Plastic Culture News: Laika Mega Munny Custom

It’s always fun to see custom on Mega Munny. Ardabus Rubber just finished with his Mega Munny. Ardabus has created some amazing custom work for the Con and this time he did this custom as commission based. Laika is what it’s called. Oh, this piece comes with 16″ x 20″ companion canvas.

[Background Story] “1957… the space race is well underway… the battle for intergalactic supremacy took hold of the world like a plague. The first manned space flight was planned, but of course testing was required. Instead of using humans, the Russians found a homeless dog, named her “Laika” and sent her into space. She became the first animal to orbit the earth, and subsequently die in space. Her soul is stuck in the aether and materializes itself from time to time, and serves as a reminder to all explorers and adventurers: Christopher Columbus didn’t send a dog to discover America…”

Plastic Culture News: Dunny 2010 Release Party Recap

Broke my phone today that has all the good photo coverage from Dunny 2010 Release Party a few hours ago at The Other Culture (Plastic Culture in fX Lifestyle X’nter). This the only pic that I can recover. Dunny 2010 Release Party was a whole lot of fun. We uncovered so many Dunny’s.

The Great Depression Dunny by Frank Kozik was among the chase figures that everybody is looking for. Two lucky Dunnymania got it, Thomas (last year’s Golden Ticket Winner) and Jeffry. Steve (2009 Plastic Culture Customer of the Year) found two Bat God Dunny by Jesse Hernandez in ONE case. That’s a bit odd considering the ratio is 1/100.

Erick Wirjanata (Thunderpanda) came to play today and did so many free doodles. He showcased some of his custom Munny for his upcoming solo exhibition at Plastic Culture, Grand Indonesia that will start this Friday, September 3rd, 2010. The exhibition is called “Things Aren’t Getting Better in This Neighborhood“. Surya Sunburn (Proxy Figures), creator of Gatot Kaca Figure and Abell Octavian, creator of BarkinGun paid a visit.

Plastic Culture would like to thank you for all who came today. Thanks to our wonderful crew who has worked very hard for this event. Special thanks to Wan Tien for the wine, and Jessica for a wonderful home-made snack and drink. Congratulations to Darren’s family, Tanta, Jessica, Win, Charlie, Steve, Silvia, Vania, Abigael and Roy for winning the SUPER EXCLUSIVE Sweet Relish Dunny by Sket One.
