Plastic Culture News: Bloody Bear by Frank Kozik for Monster Massive

The newest design by Frank Kozik is this 3.5 inches tall doll that will be included when VIP ticket is purchased for the Monster Massive, a giant music event on Saturday, October 23rd at Los Angeles Sports Arena. A bloody bear has all the Kozik signature touches. From the smoking cigarettes, the after shave, the eye shape, and the redrum feel into it made this bear very Kozik-ish. For those who are not able to attend the event, this bear will be available at Boutique Muzique in Studio City starting September 24th.

Plastic Culture News: MEGA – Newest DIY Platform from Middle East

MEGA is the newest DIY Bad Boy in town. Standing at 8 inches tall, this DIY Platform is made by an artist named Mo Abedin, who is based out of Dubai. He is also the owner and founder of a company called Foo Dog. Looking at the platform closely, this DIY unifies couple of DIY into one. The body is similar to one of MadL, the hand curves is pretty standard across most DIY, and the head resembles Munny by Kidrobot. Although that is the case, MEGA has this attitude that none of the other DIY toys have.

MEGA is clearly the first Do-It-Yourself Vinyl Figure out of Middle East. This shows that the Designer Toys movement has clearly gone global! Recently they, just hold custom show (shown above).

‘Project: MEGA’ is the initiative of the Foo Dog a Dubai based urban arts collaborative and is the The Largest Artistic Collaboration and Designer Toys Exhibition in the Middle East featuring 100 of Dubai’s most creative talents and 100 customized MEGA’s.

‘Project: MEGA’ launched on May 26th 2010 at the Gate Village in the Dubai International Financial Center and runs till the end of June 2010.

Plastic Culture News: Skartch Resin Figure by ESC Toys

Standing at 6 inches tall, this limited edition (25 pieces) resin figure by Erick Scarecrow is blazing! Here is a little info I found from Erick Scarecrow’s blog:

Recently Skratch grew tired of her job stacking boxes at a local toy shop. She was underpaid, cranky and hated the fact that she didn’t get any freebies. Her big mouth boss made her job harder by telling her that if she worked a little bit harder, she would be awarded with the title “Employee of the Month”. Skratch couldn’t care less for the title. Every month that title went to a lazy Purpolo Papa Sama that was favored by the boss for some mysterious reason, but that’s another story.

One day a large box fell on Skratch’s head due to the Purpolo Papa Sama’s neglect. She couldn’t take it anymore and she decided to quit. Her boss asked “where are you going to find a better job in this economy? Besides you’re a purple puss with no boots. Who would hire you?”. That “purple puss” comment drove her over the edge as she popped her claws out and went after her boss. The chase came to a halt when they noticed an ice cream covered mouse opening an ice cream store across the street. It was lunch time.

Each piece will be signed and numbered by Erick and they are all will be available HERE at Friday, 20th August at 09:00AM EST. Best of luck to all of you!
